Elysian: beautiful, creative, divinely inspired…

Poetry  means  emotions; love, laughter  and  pain,

It  tends  to  my  wounds,  and  keeps  me  sane,

के लबों पर पिघलते गीतों को,   जैसे  साज़  मिल  जाते  हैं,

और  दिल  से  रिसते  जज़्बातों  को,  मीठे  अल्फ़ाज़  मिल  जाते  हैं,

These  words  extricates  my  soul,  and  quells  disdain,

I  am  a  scorching  desert  and  poetry  is  my  rain,

I am #proud to be a part of this initiative and that this small step may fuel the pursuit of peace globally. Kudos to the efforts of #Praxis team, the poets and anyone & everyone who played the smallest of part in this endeavor. Please read and share it to spread the message…

Here is what I had to say…

Why do they crush innocent lives?

Foster violence and glorify knives,

Killing people in HIS name,

HE who loves everyone the same,

Splitting up hearts with borders and regions,

Dissecting names to dye them with religions,

Millions live in fear, dying an inch every day,

Carrying the burden of lives they lost on the way,

Why do they want Jesus, Muhammad and Shiva to compete?

They only end up humiliating the gods with their deceit,

Often we forget the WHOs and WHATs that we have lost,

Not knowing exactly how much this violence would cost,

Peace can only be a distant dream,

Until we step up to the occasion like a team,

Let’s pray those poor souls may rest in peace,

Let happiness prevail and violence may cease,

Violence may cease…

Half Girlfriend: #TrueLove

Love can be found in the darkest of hearts if one only remembers to seek it. Sometimes we need to see though eyes of others to see the love that lies within us. But it doesn’t always happen as the cupid desires to be, sometimes the worldly pleasures takes over our instincts. Sometimes we fail to see the light, the love which we have subconsciously locked away and the emotions cannot penetrate the shell around it. In a world of “tit for tat” we are yet to see “love for love” to decide the fate of all love stories. Some love stories do not see the dawn of eternity, some love stories just fade away in time. Here’s one such story that met with a similar fate but remember that it is just the story or the characters that die, the love lives on and on and on.

Love at first sight it was, as pure as it can be,
She is everywhere, it’s all he can see,
Knows no boundaries, fears  no fear,
Just wanna love her, and hold her dear,

It’s a pity she didn’t love him,
Mocked him & shunned him away,
But he never learned to not-love her,
Without her…he wouldn’t last a day,

She was everything for him,
He loved her unconditionally anyway,
But his love couldn’t prevail,
She wouldn’t believe-no matter what he say,

He didn’t know anything but to love her,
So he loved her to his last breath,
And proved his love in life and in death…

It may be heart shattering to see your beloved but not being able to embrace her in your arms but remember that you are never alone if you love yourself. You don’t have to be what others want you to be.

दिलों  में  छलकती  मोहब्बत, लकीरों  में  समा  ना  सकी,

जम  के  बरसी  दोनों  ही  तरफ, पर  प्यास  फिर  भी  बुझा  ना  सकी…

You don’t have to be interesting or entertaining, spontaneous or sociable. You are beautiful the way you are. The right people are going to recognize your worth. Life is too short, and your own happiness is far too important to think otherwise.

Presenting my composition, a tribute to the doctors and in fact all the medicos, which found a place in the annual collection of shortlisted poems selected by the jury of poetry society of India. I couldn’t win though, but it is a huge motivation to keep trying. Here it goes:

We are the Doctors

We  are  the  healers, we  cure,  we  care,

Cope  with  plights,  only  few  would  dare,

We  are  everywhere; so common yet  so  rare,

The resilient, eccentric & beyond compare,

We who missed the dusk of adolescence;

Solving MCQs  & juggling  books  for  reference,

Suffered in saudade  to  don the white coats,

Trying  to  be  resolute  while  riding  many  boats,

We  study  not  only  medicine, but  law  to  stats,

Playing multiple tricks with solitary hats,

For us, winsome moments are like spam,

And life is only what is  left  between  exams,

We  who  graduate  as  our  friends  finish  PGs,

A  suffix for  our  names, sure  doesn’t  come  easy,

Can’t  take  shortcuts; we  must  take  the  longer  route,

MD, DM & more; we study  till  there’s juice in the fruit,

The  Stethoscope  is  our  crown, a  cachet  you  can  bet,

It  is  ‘THE  RESPONSIBILITY’; and as  big  as  it  can  get,

We  treat  people  irrespective  of  caste, colour  or  time,

Doesn’t  matter  if  covered  in  vomit, blood  or  slime,

Because saving  a  life  is  worth  every  dime,

And  we don’t hesitate to  put  our  own  lives  on  the  line,

Friends  and  family  spend  the  nights  alone  and  dizzy,

‘Coz  we  are  notorious  for  being  perpetually  busy,

Live like luftmensch; whom people often misconstrue,

As we associate  first  rains  with  malaria  or  dengue,

We  are  the  misfits, flamboyant but  nerds,

Willingly sitting in  cage  but  immanently free  birds,

We   allow  for  prejudices  and not  be  judgmental,

Specialise in handling  mobs while  being  gentle,

We  must  always  be  composed  and  calm,

And it’s not  always  easy; ‘coz  yes, oh  darn!!

Deemed  gods  when  we  save and  killers  if  we  can’t,

But we try & make a wish; which only the gods can grant,

We  are  the  doctors; the  healers, protectors,

Spreading smiles, we are just the vectors,

Reverence is what we seek, but a smile may sure suffice,

We only want all to be safe; healthy, wealthy and wise,

Healthy, wealthy and wise…

Let yourself be silently drawn by the surreal pull of love.

A soul mate isn’t one who completes you but the one who inspires you to complete yourself. Someone who loves you with so much conviction and so much heart that it is nearly impossible to doubt just how capable you are of becoming exactly who you have always wanted to be.

Love someone who loves your free spirit,

Sets your wild self free and runs amok with it,

Someone who never belittles you,

Loves you in all shades of emotions,

All gloomy colors, any boiling hue,

Someone who knows how gentle you are,

But doesn’t kindle your fragile scars,

Someone who knows your might and feels proud of it,

Shares your secrets and flaws but doesn’t arouse guilt,

Find someone who is

Patient, forgiving, and apologetic,

Humble, kind and empathetic,

Not only with you but everyone,

The one who shares your soul,

And loves you like none…

The best place in the world is in the arms of someone who will not only hold you up and hug you tight at your weakest moment.

When you choose a life partner, you are choosing a lot of things, including

  • Your parenting partner: someone who will deeply influence your children,
  • Your eating companion for about innumerable meals,
  • Your travel companion: someone to share memories with,
  •  Your retirement friend, career therapist and someone whose day you’ll hear about for the rest of your life.

All said and done but love can never be planned, it is always spontaneous. Never underestimate the power and possibilities of ‘koi-no-yokan’.

When you have found your ‘special someone’ and choose to tap your privilege to be able to say ‘I love you’ to him/her, remember that you have to earn the right to be believed, the right to be loved.

I love you in ways

 you have never been loved,

For reasons

you have never been told,

For longer

than you think you deserved,

And with more

than you will ever know

that existed inside me…

Forelsket (Norwegian): The euphoria you experience when you’re first falling in love.

Koi-no-yokan (Japanese): The sense one can have upon first meeting a person that the two of you are going to fall in love. Differs from “love at first sight” as it does not imply that the feeling of love exists, only the knowledge that a future love is inevitable.

The love saga will continue…keep in touch for more:-)
